Most of you are probably wondering what exactly Book-O-Ween is and what happened on that day so let me tell you! Each hall was decorated with a different theme from various books that our children read. The themes of the halls were: Superhero Street, Lego Place, Gumdrop Lane, Diary Drive, and Wizard of Oz Way. (A huge thanks to the parent volunteer that decorated for us!) All teachers and students were asked to dress up as their favorite book character. On the day of Book-O-Ween classes traveled to at least one teacher from each grade level and they listened to the teachers read a book with their character in it. Children were exposed to a variety of genres, series, and authors. They were also able to visit with teachers from different grade levels and get to know them a little better. The children were engaged and entranced throughout their Book-O-Ween journey. It was a huge success and we will continue this event in years to come! A huge thanks to the parent volunteers that led the classes around and to the staff for being so dedicated and supportive of invoking a love of literacy in all of our students.
